Duties Summary About the Position:

This position is located in Tacoma, Washington.
Responsibilities Conduct complex psychosocial evaluations on behavioral health patients to determine needs of patients. Required Provide therapy or supportive counseling to behavioral health patients to address issues that could negatively impact the patient's recovery. Monitor behavioral health care of the patient to ensure he/she receives required care. Required Conduct initial risk assessments on Patients to determine their behavioral health risk level and plans for mitigating risk. Implement comprehensive transition plans for the patient or families to help the patient adjust to new treatment centered activities. Document care management information of the patient in automated medical records in order to keep other staff members informed. Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker (Clinical) (Transition Unit):Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: conducting risk assessments for behavioral health patients, providing crisis counseling, and documenting patient treatment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). This position is scheduled to transfer to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) no later than 30 Sept 2021 in accordance with the provisions of Section 702 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017, Public Law 114-328. The Act directed the DHA to take responsibility for the administration (i.e., authority, direction, and control) of military treatment facilities beginning 1 Oct 18. Employees will become DoD employees upon transfer to the DHA. Situational Telework may be authorized.
