Principal Program Manager

Job description

We’re going through a massive digital transformation that will redefine how we work and the type of jobs we’ll have in the future:
The AI revolution will simplify and automate most routine tasks, human value will shift toward creative tasks. The move from individual work to teamwork will continue and stretch across geographies and languages. The amount of knowledge will continue to grow and with it the need to gather summarize and visualize relevant pieces to support human decision making. New device form factors will open new opportunities to visualize, interact and create content. However, many of the current productivity tools are not designed for the future (optimized for individual work, too structured, etc.).
A couple of years ago Microsoft acquired Intentional and formed a new team with the goal of building the productivity tools of the future as well as the underlying technology to power new large scale, highly collaborative experiences. Last year we shipped our first app - Microsoft Whiteboard, an intelligent canvas for creative teamwork. The new app is integrated with Surface Hub & Teams and is starting to change the way people work together.
We’re looking for an experienced technical PM to define and drive the extensibility story and SDK for Microsoft Whiteboard. The ability for customers, partners and developers to customize Whiteboard for their needs, integrate it with other systems or extend it with new capabilities, is a key part of the value proposition of Whiteboard. Another part of the role is to leverage the technology we built for Whiteboard to support creating a wider set of productivity experiences for Microsoft. Responsibilities We’re looking for candidates that: Are hungry to and passionate about tackling big, ambiguous problems Are customer obsessed and excited about empowering customers with new tools to modernize the way they work Are passionate about developers and helping developers make better products, faster Have experience writing web software, particularly in modern engineering stacks (NodeJS, Typescript, React, Webpack, etc.) Often ask ‘why?’ and are willing to challenge our strategy, our product or how we work Optimize for agility, iterations and learning and use data to make good decisions Have a growth mindset Are good communicators and collaborators and can comfortably work with internal and external partners Qualifications 7+ years in program/product management or equivalent 2+ experience producing and shipping developer tools or SDKs, including API design & documentation Experience or education in software engineering; computer science or equivalent education background is preferred. Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, ancestry, color, family or medical care leave, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, national origin, physical or mental disability, political affiliation, protected veteran status, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations and ordinances. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or the recruiting process, please send a request via the Accommodation request form.
Benefits/perks listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Microsoft and the country where you work.
