DCYF Trauma Informed Care Program Manager

The Department of Children, Youth, and Families is a new cabinet agency in Washington State focused on the well-being of children and youth. DCYF was created to be a comprehensive agency exclusively dedicated to the social, emotional, and physical well-being of children, youth, and families.

The Opportunity:
How would you like to oversee the strategic planning and implementation of the recommendations of the legislated Trauma Informed Care Advisory Group. The position's duties involve establishing, overseeing and managing an ongoing Trauma Informed Care Advisory Group and related workgroups. The duties include developing a model for professional development in Trauma Informed Care for early care and education providers, developing a statewide system to track and reduce expulsions from early learning environments, establishing a plan to pilot enhanced trauma informed early care and education sites, and other related activities.

Please note, this is a project position and although initially scheduled to last through December 2019 we anticipate it will be extended through February 29, 2020.

Some of what you'll do: Develop and implement overall work plan, including Advisory Group recruitment and convening, planning and facilitating meetings, and overall strategic planning in collaboration with other DCYF early learning planning efforts. Recruit and select Advisory Group and related workgroup members in collaboration with DCYF staff. Identify and recruit content or systems experts to present and contribute to meetings as appropriate. Develop meeting agendas with supporting background materials and research. Facilitate Advisory Group and related workgroup meetings. Communicate with Advisory Group members and other strategic internal and external partners and stakeholders as needed. Coordinate implementation of trauma informed approaches with statewide Infant-Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC), Child Care Health Consultation (CCHC), Early Achievers Coaching and other shared consultation services. Facilitate meetings and guide Advisory Group in establishing vision and strategic direction for completion of planning and implementation efforts. Identify and facilitate practical strategies to enable effective group decision making, conflict resolution and consensus-building around shared vision, goals and recommendations. Participate in discussions regarding development of state Preschool Expulsion Prevention Policy as appropriate. Consult with executive management on the progress and next steps of implementation. Research and compile information on evidence based practices and other national models for implementation of Trauma Informed Care approaches and preschool expulsion tracking and prevention strategies.
What we're looking for:
BA in Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, Early Childhood Education or Administration or the equivalent
Minimum 3 years professional experience in group facilitation, project management and report writing
Minimum 3 years professional knowledge of ACES and principles of Trauma-Informed practice and impact of preschool expulsion

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following: Ability to develop and maintain positive, productive, respectful working relationships with diverse group of professionals, partners and stakeholders Experience in group facilitation, project management and report writing Foundation in early childhood, child development, family systems and parenting Knowledge of ACES and principles of Trauma-Informed practice and impact of preschool expulsion

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
