The Plymouth Schoolhouse is a 4 STAR accredited Early Child Care Center, serving children 24 months to 6 years old and their families, in Plymouth, Vermont for the last four summers. Our emergent curriculum recognizes the importance of play and strives to create connections with the natural world and the community in which we live. Teachers plan curriculum based on the demonstrated interests of children and the belief that children actively engage in the construction of their own knowledge. The classroom is set up to be a teacher in itself and values natural light, green plants, quality materials and toys and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
The Plymouth Schoolhouse will be shifting into an infant/toddler childcare this summer, and accepting children as young as 6 weeks old by the Fall, and operating year round. New furniture will be purchased and the space rearranged to accommodate the young children of our town. The Director and the Teacher will work closely to support the families that The Plymouth Schoolhouse serves.
The Teacher is responsible for coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand childrens cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns. The Teacher will be supported by the Director, and be apart of a growing childcare in Plymouth.
The Teacher will be responsible for:
Planning individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
Ensure a healthy classroom environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of childre
Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
The Plymouth Schoolhouse is looking for a full-time infant/toddler classroom teacher to join the team this summer.
Associates Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE.
Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
A strong understanding of child development.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl. A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.

Full time staff (35+ a week) receive 6 paid holidays a year.
Child care is offered a discounted rate of 2 dollars per hour.
Snow days are paid if I close the center due to weather.
