SUMMARY The Child Care Classroom Aide provides care for children between the ages of six weeks and twelve years in the childcare center for the guests and employees of Jay Peak Resort.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
Supervise children at all times and ensure safety.
Treat all children and staff with respect and dignity.
Support transitions for both parent and child. Greet families, put belongings away in cubbies, mark and store lunches, record any special instructions by parents, etc.
Actively engage children in reading, games, creative play, painting, drawing, songs, and similar activities.
Resolve conflict between children in a timely manner
Assist with diapering and toileting.
Serve meals and snacks to children.
Clean and organize facility daily.
Process payments and daily billing.
Complete daily tracking sheets and communicate the day?s activities with parents.
Answer incoming phone calls.
Attend monthly staff meetings.
Maintain continuing education credits as required by Vermont Licensing Regulations.
Understand and follow Vermont Childcare Licensing Regulations.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read & comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, & memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one & small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
