Facilities Assistant II

This position is responsible for general and preventative maintenance, repairs, and completing assigned tasks to help maintain cleanliness and order around City Market.
Non-exempt, work directed by others. Decisions focus on individual responsibilities within relatively narrow guidelines, yet can affect customer satisfaction.
This position has access to information necessary to perform job tasks and is expected to treat City Market employee and customer service interactions with appropriate discretion.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistant II is responsible for providing the highest level of service possible to our customers, co-workers, vendors, and community. This position is also required to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and contribute towards a positive work environment that requires the highest standard of personal conduct.

Adhere to policies as outlined in the City Market’s Employee Guide.
Familiarize yourself with and adhere to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Be proactive with regard to creative self-learning and professional development while having a curiosity and desire to learn. Attend all required meetings, trainings, seminars and workshops.
Follow all department policies and procedures in order for City Market to adhere to all State, Federal and OSHA regulations.

Assist Facilities Manager with implementing and maintaining ongoing cleaning program for areas of the store not covered by individual departments.
Work with Facilities Manager to support City Market staff and customers in a friendly, careful, efficient and appropriate manner with tasks related to general maintenance or cleaning need.
Assist with monitoring of the parking lot for unauthorized, non-shopper usage and management of the traffic flow.
Assist Facilities Manager with store & program maintenance as needed such as changing light bulbs and ventilation filters, painting, window washing, light construction, equipment repair, moving office equipment, coordinating waste disposal, shoveling snow, etc.
Coordinate and implement Facilities projects with minimal guidance. Communicate effectively and professionally with staff throughout City Market.
Follow established department procedures for administrative duties including ongoing documentation duties as well as specific projects as they arise.
Assist Facilities Manager with stocking/tracking inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies, notifying when supply levels are low. Order supplies as needed.
Understand operation of building monitoring systems and follow-up if needed.
Complete repairs in a timely manner to equipment, building or grounds including but not limited to kitchen equipment, light carpentry, plumbing fixtures, painting, etc.
Notify Facilities Manager of repairs and/or service needed for City Market equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

One year of maintenance or construction experience OR 18 months of custodial experience required.
High School diploma or GED required.
Knowledge of natural and conventional foods and the food industry preferred.
Noise level is moderate to loud as can be expected in a busy retail environment. May be exposed to various temperature changes and work environment, as well as working around various pieces of equipment. May be required to work in high, precarious places, work near moving mechanical parts, some chemicals and frequent outdoor weather conditions. Expected to lift up to 50lbs regularly.
