Duties Summary You will serve as a Public Health Educator in the Population Health Directorate, Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center of NAVMCPUBHLTHCEN.
Responsibilities You will establish outcome objectives for health promotion and community health programs in comparison to National Public Health outcome objectives. You will plan, coordinate and provide professional technical consultation to lower grade health promotion coordinators. You will interpret and evaluate data in order to make recommendations for changes in worldwide health promotion programs. You will plan and conduct health promotion seminars, workshops speaking to tens to thousands during conferences. You will develop appropriate guidelines to train lower grade field health promotion coordinators. Travel Required Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position. Qualifications Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Degree: bachelor's or higher degree in health education, health management, education, sociology, community development, social work, or educational psychology Evaluation of Education and Experience: At least 1 academic year of the total amount of graduate study required must have been in a school of public health accredited by the American Public Health Association. Professional experience must have been in the field of public health education, community organization, or social work. Combinations of such graduate level education and professional experience are also acceptable. Specialized experience for all positions in this series may have been gained working with State and local health departments, with national and local voluntary agencies, organizing community groups to study health problems and methods of disease prevention, coordinating mass health programs, and evaluating and improving health education programs. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience planning, developing and conducting Reproductive and Sexual Health programming for medical and non-medical audiences. Experience establishing priorities for disease prevention and community health programs Experience planning and conducting health promotion seminars, workshops at local, national and regional conferences Experience providing oversight of health promotion projects and health promotion initiatives Experience participating in multidisciplinary teams that assess risk, conduct needs assessments, develop educational programs, etc for health promotion and community health programs Experience conducting health seminars on a variety of areas such as stress management, alcohol abuse, hypertension, nutrition, physical fitness, suicide prevention, etc. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website:
