Software Development Manager

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field5+ years of professional experience in software development with deep understanding in object-oriented design and coding in Java or C++ or related technologies5+ years in building and leading engineering teamsKnowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

Want to make a billion-dollar impact? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you. The AWS Inspector team is looking for a passionate and innovative Software Development Manager. In this role, you will lead a team to design and build vulnerability management services to help our customers improve their security posture.

Responsibilities include direct management of development engineers, process and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery.

You should have a proven track record in recruiting and retaining top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.
Have a deep understanding of software architecture and development methodology. The ideal candidate will have past experience working as a software development engineer. You will enjoy keeping your technical skills current, to the point that you can contribute to architecture discussions. You regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.
Have strong project management experience. The successful candidate will create roadmaps and project plans for the team. This will include innovating and inventing new value-add services layered on top of our existing services. Experience with Agile methodologies is an advantage.
Know how to run a tight, lean, efficient operation. The right candidate will want to measure everything. You will excel at using metrics, monitoring, and alarming to measure and improve the operational processes and performance of the team.
Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Computer Sciences or related technical fieldEntrepreneurial spirit combined with strong architectural and problem solving skillsDemonstrated track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional projects with evolving requirementsExcellent written and verbal technical communication with an ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiencesPassion for people management and mentorship and proven track record of building and managing high performing engineering teamsExceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutionsPassion, convictions, the innate ability to inspire passion in others, and the ability to establish and sell the business and technical vision for a complicated problem areaExperience with security products is definitely a plus Services, Inc.
