Job description          

Position Summary
Responsible for direct patient care and the assisting of the Physician/ Physician Assistant.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Takes patient histories and vital signs.
Prepares patients for examination and treatments.
Documents appropriate patient medical information in chart and or EHR system.
Prepares exam and treatment room with necessary supplies/instruments.
Assist the doctor in examining and treating patients.
Screens telephone calls for referral to physicians and or patients calls.
Prepares patient records accordingly for office visits
Ensures patient reports/records (CAT scan, Lab results, referring physicians' notes, etc.) are in patient's charts prior to office visits.
Schedule procedures accordingly at the different facilities.
Ensures H&P and other pertinent information is forwarded to facilities for scheduled procedures.
Communicate with patients when there are delays in the schedule.
Addresses concerns with patient and communicates concerns with supervisor.
Performs or assists with procedures under the supervision of the physicians; Electrocardiograms, Holter monitor hook-up/upload data to system/retrieve reports X-ray if credentialed, Stress test (assist)
Fax /E-prescribe to appropriate pharmacies.
Fax visit notes as per physicians orders
Familiar with EHR Components: E-Script Lab interface (when available) Components needed for patient documentation/charts
Familiar with transcription module: upload dictation, download transcription, etc.
Ensures physicians and physicians assistants' computer/dictation systems are functional prior to their arrival and if not communicate to supervisor accordingly.
Answers patients' questions about medicines and procedures/treatments.
Explains hospital admission, procedures that are scheduled such as Angiograms, Heart Catherizations, Permanent Pacemakers, PTCA, PTA, etc.
Educate the patients in the use regarding medical equipment ordered for them.

Assist in maintaining patient files, records, and other information to contribute to accurate data gathering.
Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
Notifies the clinical supervisor when clinical and office supplies need replenishing.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Performs related work as required or requested by Nursing Supervisor or Physician/Physician Assistant.
Practice and adheres to HIPPA regulations.
Qualifications and Specifications:
Education-High School Diploma, some college preferred.
License and Certification, maintains CPR certification. Obtains appropriate certificate.
Experience: minimum of one year, work experience in public contact job experience or interested in health care.
Essential Physical requirements: must be able to use appropriate body mechanic techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patient with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift 30 pounds of supplies.
