The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Program Manager- Co-Curricular in Arlington, Tx.
Plans, directs, supervises and evaluates the day-to-day operations of the North Texas Youth Education Town (YET) educational programs, and maintains an environment conducive to the growth and development of the children, parents and staff consistent with the policies and mission of The Salvation Army; recruits, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff; promotes various youth services programs in the community and specifically to prospective families and collaborative partners; ensures youth service programs remain in compliance with state licensing and local health & fire regulations; leadsthe teaching staff in the development and implementation of curriculum that is age appropriate, stimulating, educational and supportive of mission.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the up-to-date principles and practices of Early Childhood Education, curriculum development and child psychology. Knowledge of state accreditation requirements. Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel supervision. Knowledge and evidence of staff leadership and training skills. Knowledge of the principles and practices of the area school district curriculum. Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective office management.
Ability to relate sensitively to people of all ages and varied backgrounds. Ability to communicate and express ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Child Development, Music, Music Education or a related field, AND three to four years progressively responsible experience administering and/or developing youth and/or music programs, with one year supervisory experience, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid State Driver’s License
Valid Class B Passenger CDL (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Texas DFPS Childcare Directors License (preferred)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.
Ability to consent to annual TB tests and criminal background checks as required by licensing standards. Ability to maintain a satisfactory medical report as required by licensing standards.
Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying objects (up to 25 lbs.), duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking.
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
