Valet Driver - SF Village

As a Driver at the Good Samaritan Society, you'll help shuttle residents and clients to activities, events, appointments and more in a collaborative healthcare setting with a faith-based mission.

This position requires one full week of on call each month with approximate hours of driving responsibility between 11am-5pm typically. The valet is responsible for arriving to local hospitals to pick up clients that are discharging to one of our three skilled settings in Sioux Falls. You would arrive at the hospital and help the client from their room to the van, secure them safely in the van and once you arrive at their destination, you would help them to their new home.
You are paid a lump sum for being on call that one week per month and then an hourly wage when dispatched for valet.
Is responsible to drive the location vehicle to transport residents, according to Good Samaritan mission, location standards, and procedures.
Drives location's vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
Plans most efficient and effective route prior to transportation of residents to and from destination.
Follows all state, local and GSS safety rules; ensures all seat belts are fastened prior to moving vehicle. Assists residents in and out of the vehicle
Maintains accurate, up to date records. Complete accurate and timely reports; to include incidents of any kind and shares report with designated staff
Performs daily and preventive maintenance on vehicles; including keeping vehicle filled with gas and checking oil. Documents all completed work and tests performed
Completes interior and exterior cleaning of vehicle as identified in policy, and more often if needed.
Ability to walk long distances, bend to tie down wheelchairs in van and push residents a must.

What you'll do: Your job is an important one, helping our residents arrive at their destination safely and on time. For the most part, you'll work as a courteous steward to ensure safe, on-time arrival of residents. You will maintain a clean vehicle, following all state and local traffic laws and document trips. You'll assist residents into and out of the vehicle, and ensure that they're properly secured. At times, you will be called on to assist with an activity.

Prior experience with frail elderly and driving a vehicle; paid or volunteer experience or leading group activities helpful. Must have a valid driver's license, and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report. Must be at least 18 years of age; 21 years of age to operate a Society Class B or C DOT regulated vehicle.
Ability to communicate and comprehend.
