Part-Time Liquor Store Clerk

Job description          

Under the general supervision of the Liquor Store Manager, responsible for sales, stocking, and restocking of products. Typical duties and responsibilities to include: Provide customer assistance; Review price sheets to note price changes and sale items; Record prices and departments, subtotal taxable items, and total purchases on cash register; Collect cash, check, or charge payment from customer and make change for cash transactions; Stock shelves, set up displays, mark prices, and inform manager of inventory discrepancies between actual and perpetual inventory records; Record daily transaction amounts from cash register and balance cash drawer at end of work shift; Use cash register, calculator, and credit card, lotto and carding machines; Work with vendors of non-alcoholic products (i.e. snacks and soft drinks) in the purchasing process; Clean cooler and sales area to ensure an orderly store and to ensure plenty of stock; Clean restroom, dust shelves, vacuum designated areas, and dispose of all trash; Assist in clearing and maintaining a safe customer traffic area inside and out; May occasionally operate fork lift when truck load shipments arrive; Attend training, seminars and workshops as deemed necessary; Perform duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies; Must be able to work in a physical environment, including the ability to lift up to 80 pounds with periods of continuous standing/walking during shift. Performs other such duties and functions as assigned, apparent or consistent with the tasks of the position. This position will consist of a varied number of hours per week and applicants must have availability to work all shifts to include days, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Two years related experience and/or training preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Availability to work all shifts to include days, evenings, holidays, and weekends. Working knowledge of alcoholic beverages, products and special sales information. Possess pleasant personality and ability to deal with the general public in a confined environment. Minimal computer literacy. Minimum age of twenty-one for the sale of alcoholic beverages. Must be eligible to be certified in Techniques Alcohol Management (TAM) or similar program. Successful competition in written tests and/or oral interviews. Effective communication and constant awareness of surroundings. Must be able to work in a physical environment, including lifting of up to 80 pounds with periods of continuous standing/walking during shift. Knowledge of store policies/procedures and proper use of equipment.
