Job Responsibilities: The SDSU Facilities & Services department is seeking experienced HVAC technicians to join our team! Our HVAC techs support the university to keep staff and students comfortable year round. You will work on a team that supports the day to day operations, remodels and new construction across SDSU properties. In this role you will be responsible to operate, maintain and repair all heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, ranging from small fractional horsepower compressors up to 750 ton chillers. This is a great opportunity to work on a wide variety of the latest HVAC technology.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of: HVAC equipment, commercial experience is preferred. Must be able to obtain a refrigerant certificate within 6 months of hire. Operate, maintain and repair all heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment from small fractional horsepower compressors up to 400 ton chillers
Ability to: Keep all temperature control systems, heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning systems adjusted, calibrated and reliably operational; diagnose and repair system problems on HVAC equipment; install new systems and controls; alter current or aging systems; perform system testing; use hand and power tools; maintain records; order and maintain inventory of parts; communicate clearly and concisely; and deal tactfully and work effectively with others.
Required License: Valid driver’s license is required. Refrigerant Certification or ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of employment is required.
Comments: We are seeking experienced techs with a can-do attitude, knack for problem solving and an ability to jump from job to job based on our customer needs. All positions are 40 hours per week, day shift with rotating on-call schedule. We provide all the tools you need to do your job, including a vehicle and mobile devices. Position is subject to On Call Duty for emergency problems. This position is classified as a Building Maintenance Specialist. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check.
