The Manager, Penn Home Ownership Services (PHOS) is responsible for leading the provision of services and processes offered to eligible University employees by the Penn Home Ownership Services. This includes customers, educational participants, and business partners, including outreach & education, loan underwriting, and loan closing process. The Manager is also responsible for delivery of an outstanding customer service experience from initial contact through to completion of the process, in compliance with program protocols, procedures, and guidelines developed for participants.
Major responsibilities include outreach and education of the various services & benefits available to eligible employees, provision of guidance and education on the home buying process; insight and guidance on factors that impact an individual's credit score; provision of high quality customer service to employees who contact and/or enroll in the services offered by the Penn Home Ownership Services. This position is also responsible for performing underwriting activities for Penn's $7,500 forgivable loan, maintain impeccable documentation to support the loan process while ensuring compliance with University policies; acting as a liaison and first point of contact with Penn's preferred lending partners; and leading the transnational activities associated with the settlement process of purchasing a home.
This position develops and provides transactional and educational information via the web and appropriate print mechanisms; and assures the quality of the PHOS database to facilitate streamlined processes. The incumbent coordinates with the Divisional Finance team to process and/or manage financial transactions and reporting; works with Penn's Office of General Counsel to monitor and manage delinquencies; and works with other departments including Communications, Marketing, and IT on projects, public relations, customer communications, web presence, or program marketing opportunities. The Manager also leads the development and presentation of industry leading educational opportunities including seminars/workshops/events for University and Health System faculty and staff as well as program innovations developed in collaboration with internal constituents. This position has an important resource stewardship role and is expected to report all known or suspected irregularities to their immediate supervisor or through other appropriate channels.
Bachelor's Degree plus 3-5 years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, knowledge and experience, is required. Familiarity with loan and loan closing processes. PA Real Estate License desirable. Experience managing a customer service program. Demonstrated ability to negotiate, to interpret policies and complex problem solving. Strong attention to detail and experience managing financial and material resources, including analysis and reporting. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with managing and utilizing databases. Successful track record working collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues and customers. High level interpersonal skills, including experience with negotiations and the supervision of staff. Project Management experience. Demonstrated ability to professionally present information and facilitate education sessions for groups of 15 or more.
