Facilities Project Engineer Intern (Summer 2020)

This position is payrolled via agency.
We are looking for an engineer to support our onsite engineering staff with a variety of projects. This opportunity may be in one or more disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical engineering.
May work closely with our onsite mechanical engineer to detail and document site gas distribution systems. Duties will include site mapping of existing piping in CAD as well as design and layout for safe gas distribution boxes. This position will include involvement in new site projects including seismic anchoring specifications for equipment. May work closely with our onsite electrical engineer to document our site electrical distribution and verify load calculations. The Intern will support projects including new equipment installation as well as energy efficiency projects. May work closely with our site facility and EHS team to perform chemical sampling for our various waste streams. This Intern will be involved in our new chemical introduction workflow and help make determinations for chemicals coming onsite. Each proposed new chemistry will be vetted to determine compatibilities with facility systems and other chemicals onsite. Working with Facilities this intern will have opportunities to learn about gas and chemical detection equipment used in our daily work. Successful candidates will be assigned relevant projects based on timing and upcoming work activities.
Requirement: Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in: Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.

Physical Requirements:
Job duties may be performed in confined areas in a clean room environment, in awkward positions and/or in high places. Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity and ability to lift/carry objects up to 35 pounds may be required. May require bending/stooping/crawling/climbing. May require the use of Personal Protection equipment and proper industry safety procedures when working with one or more dangerous element or conditions such as chemicals, electric currents or high voltage, moving mechanical parts, radiation, etc. Occasional travel to other TEL facilities, training facilities and customer locations may be required.
