Job Title: Benefits Manager Location: Omaha, Nebraska Responsibilities: Manages daily activities for the Boys Town benefits function. Manages the benefits department and employees, including all health and welfare benefits, pension, village contracted benefits, physicians specialized benefits, and other employee services programs. Reviews and analyzes benefits to determine employee needs, trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to develop competitive programs and services that meet employee needs, maintain organizational goals, and comply with regulatory requirements. Performs management duties, such as hiring, training, coaching, counseling, corrective action, and evaluations for the Benefits department. Provides input towards and administers strategic benefits budgets, plans, and goals, based upon expected changes in the market and organization of needs. Manages the administration of the group benefit program within approved budgets and implements cost-saving measures to conserve organizational resources while providing comprehensive and competitive offerings for employees. Manages employee services activities and programs involving ERISA consultation, and defined contribution plans' 414(h), 401(k), and 403(b). Monitors the contribution, distribution, match, and testing of the highly compensated employees verses the non-highly compensated. Monitors and prepares documents, restatements, and amendments as requested and ensures compliance with federal and state laws. Ensures the confidentiality and privacy of protected health information and serves as the privacy and HIPAA manager for the human resources department, including HIPAA certification of all employees with access to protected health information. Directs the preparation and filing of various legally-required reports/documents concerning benefit and welfare plans. Liaises between internal departments and external contacts. Conducts benefits surveys, analyzes results, and develops management reports. Provides recommendations for and delivers employee communication on updated benefits offerings. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, Human Resources, related field, or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred. 6+ years of progressive benefits experience, including management of benefits programs. Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) certification preferred. Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) or Certified Employee Benefits Professional (CEBS) certification preferred. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of group benefit plan and retirement plan management. Knowledge of how to forecast benefits cost and outcomes while also understanding business implications of decisions and alignment with strategic goals. Ability to source and compare benefits offerings and make fiscally responsible recommendations while maintaining employee quality of care. Ability to research information, evaluate multiple scenarios, and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and represent ideas clearly and concisely. Ability to understand and apply federal, state and local changes to and/or new regulations/laws pertaining to group benefit plans and retirement plan administration. Ability to successfully lead a team of employees. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
