This position requires work in support of the Company’s contract with the United States Department of Education (“ED”). As such, the United States Government requires that any applicant for this position must complete United States Government security clearance. Effective June 1, 2018, ED has informed Nelnet that security clearance applications for foreign nationals are not being accepted or processed. In light of this direction from ED, Nelnet will be unable to hire applicants without United States citizenship for such positions. Responsibilities Commit to Performance Based Organization (PBO) & Easy to Do Business with (ETDBW) philosophy. Improve Nelnet’s performance by providing data-driven analysis results to drive strategic decision making. Provide strategic and defensible recommendations for improving our systems, processes, and strategies based upon findings supported by research and data analysis. Interact with all levels of the organization to facilitate analysis requirements and reporting needs. Analyze data for trends, correlations, and other key characteristics, and report findings. Develop reports and dashboards to communicate performance and deliver insight to customers while monitoring data quality issues. Continuously seek out opportunities to add value through process automation and programmatic solutions to manual tasks. Be proactive to customer needs and support the Nelnet Management team as our primary customer. Develop and maintain knowledge of latest trends and best practices. Continuously expand knowledge of student loan servicing industry and maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices. Effectively present and discuss analysis and insights with customers in narrative or visual form. Qualifications EDUCATION: 4-year college degree preferred or equivalent experience needed
EXPERIENCE: 1 year of data analytics with proven track record of experience matching the summary above. Preferable to see examples or published work.
COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES: Technical skill-set Experience with data access and structuring tools (e.g. Aginity for Netezza/AWS, Python, SQL Server Analytics Services, SQL Server Management Studio). Experience with reporting and dashboarding software (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, SAP Business Objects). Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g. DAX, Microsoft T-SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, R). Experience in data mapping, cleansing, and editing as well as Extract, Transform, and Load processes (ETL). Experience in mining, cleaning, processing, and joining data from a variety of sources including SQL servers, AWS environments, SalesForce, internal systems, and flat files. Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, charts and Pivot Tables. Excellent oral/written and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to conceptualize and analyze complex business processes. Negotiation, facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to define and achieve business goals and deadlines while working both independently & collaboratively. Customer-focused philosophy. Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to meet and manage customer expectations in a professional and timely manner. Student loan/finance industry experience preferred.
