Technology Support Technician

Job description          

Provide a variety of technical support work for a large professional school faculty, staff and students. Consult with clients and higher-level system analysts, under limited supervision, to resolve potentially complex classroom technology software and hardware configurations and support ongoing student learning outcomes. Installs, configures, upgrades and resolves problems with computers and peripherals. Troubleshoot potentially complex laptop technical issues daily to support students, faculty, and staff. Support live events including setting up and troubleshooting interactive classroom and meeting room technology and software. This type of support would include investigation of trends and making suggestions for technical modifications of presentation systems, video conferencing systems, lecture recording, classroom PC?s, lecture material, testing systems and materials, and audience response systems. Independently resolve both routine and some non-routine technology issues. Develop and conduct training for supported technologies as directed by the Information Technology Manager. Maintain a demonstratable knowledge and understanding of the principles, theories and practices of computer and multimedia technology to support ongoing operations at the School of Law. Identify trends and recommend suggestions for technical modifications for interactive classroom and meeting room technologies. Utilize project management skills to maintain the circulating checkout inventory of laptops and other technology devices. This requires serving as a project team leader ensuring fiscal responsibility and complex management of an extensive technology inventory. Support high stakes exams by troubleshooting law student laptops and secure exam software. Independently conduct research and make project-based recommendations for integration of new technologies for the School of Law. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position's role. - Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Journey level requires an additional six months experience - Advanced level requires an additional one year of experience.
