Subcontractor Default Insurance Underwriting Assistant

Liberty Mutual has an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant to join our new Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) product line in our Charlotte, NC office. In this newly created role, you will be instrumental in helping identify, design and implementing processes while also providing processing and support activities to a team of Underwriters countrywide. The select candidate is goal-oriented, results-driven, and passionate about exceeding customer expectations, and thrives in a fast-paced environment by working on a variety of highly complex duties which vary each day. Responsibilities Support the SDI Underwriting team in initial preparation and review of application materials, and process business through data entry producing error free work through strong attention-to-detail. This includes but is not limited to: prepare, code and execute new transactions, riders, enter rates, renewals, cancellations, endorsements, and reinstatements. Provide underwriting support to SDI Underwriting team and legendary service to internal and external customers, including agents and clients within a defined territory. Assists with customer inquiries and questions. Help to identify, establish, and implement business processes workflows. Input, update and retrieve information using various systems, including billing/workflow, underwriting analysis and database systems. Perform program management reporting and ensure consistency across the operation through dashboards and provide regular updates and information to Underwriters, Risk Engineers, and Management necessary to policies and claims. Maintain/update PowerPoint skids and marketing materials as needed. Coordinate with internal and external professionals on insured analysis and reviews, including, but not limited to: construction trends, market studies, and insurance reviews Establish, Organize and track due diligence items, maintain project management checklists, documentation management and interact with underwriters to maintain schedule. Ensure Underwriters have the resources to stay on-task, including claims data and other liaison connections. Work with internal underwriting, finance, claims, and legal to ensure timely and efficient closing and servicing of transactions. Through templates, prepare and send internal and external communications and presentations. Provide Administrative Support and perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications:
5+ years previous Underwriting Assistant experience or equivalent is expected. Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Commercial construction industry experience necessary; Construction background and/or familiarity with construction terminology highly preferred and necessary. Exceptional customer service skills. Proven ability to organize personal work flow as well as the work flow of others. Strong working knowledge of Word, SharePoint, PPT and other MS Office Suite programs. Advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and decision-making ability. Exhibits high degree of independence, critical thinking skills, and proficiency with reporting, processing, and assigned tasks. Learns quickly and demonstrates an open attitude when facing new problems, processes, or procedures, and takes advantage of diverse sources of information to solve problems. Demonstrates ability to identify and implement process workflows. Able to work effectively in a diverse and dispersed team environment as well as independently. Demonstrates the ability to produce error-free work and achieve high levels of accuracy. Able to multi-task and prioritize work and meet challenging deadlines in order to accomplish the most important individual and business objectives. Exceptional verbal and written communication skill. Ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively in a variety of media, and project a positive, professional image both internally and with external business contacts. Able to complete tasks and assignments in a high volume work environment.
