PreAward Research Specialist

The intermittent temporary social research specialist position will be assigned to work at the Center for Health Equity Research within the Department of Social Medicine. The social research specialist position will be responsible for synthesis of research literature, report writing from available data sets, drafting and revising grant documents, and coordination of investigative team and other collaborators to ensure grant deadlines are met. Tasks will include: Finding, synthesizing, and integrating evidence into the grant: 1) Complete literature reviews, synthesize in paragraphs to establish latest findings and current gaps; 2) Locate reputable data sets and create written reports, tables, and other data visualization; 3) Find appropriate scholarly evidence to support investigative team writing; 4) Manage references used by self and investigative team in reference manager; and 5) Possible intermittent supervision of student workers or others who are supporting grant submission Creating grant documents: 1) Generate first drafts, solicit feedback, and revise scientific grant documents (protocols, human subject treatment, abstract, etc.); 2) Generate first drafts, solicit feedback, and finalize other support documents (budget justification, letters of support template, resources/timelines, bibliography etc.); 3) Documents to be in compliance with funder expectations as articulated in FOA and other funder information; 4) Draft tables and figures for grant (e.g., study procedure, data, timeline, etc.); and 5) Lead document management, organize and streamline document files ensuring version control and cross-team collaboration Coordination of project and internal communication: 1) Manage communication with external and internal collaborators to solicit, edit, and receive final letters of support; 2) Manage solicitation, revisions, and finalizing receipt of all documents generated by other members of team; 3) Manage communication, facilitate meetings, make and distribute reports, and support investigative team coordination; 4) Set timelines, milestones, and deadlines consistent with Grants Manager provided deadlines and PI expectations Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor?s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Essential Knowledge and Experience: -Experience with writing and submission of scientific grant applications required -Knowledge of health equity, public health, or biomedical research required -Preferred education and experience: 1-3 years of experience with writing and submission of scientific grant applications required Experience with NIH grants and foundation funding preferred. -Experience with leading application submission and managing fiscal components preferred -Position necessitates flexibility, ability to handle a variety of demands -Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills are needed (ability to work with a variety of people, internal and external to the university, and at all levels of management and staff) Position Number: S015350 Posting Date: 08/30/2019 Closing Date: 09/11/2019 American Recovery & Reinvestment Act Funded: No
