Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.

The SBL Credit Risk Management Team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced risk professional who loves to solve business questions; impact the bottom line of business by hands-on driven actions through systematic database solutions. The Credit Portfolio Consultant 4 will participate in strategic portfolio risk initiatives for the commercial real estate (BREF) and asset secured lending (ASL) products. More specifically, you will be evaluating and sizing risk and opportunities, developing credit underwriting and risk management strategies by balancing data-driven analytics and sound credit risk judgment, and managing credit exposure risk at the product and customer level. You will work closely with partners within the immediate team, Risk, Product, Operations, and Technology to implement new enhancements and continuously optimize portfolio risk strategies. To be effective in this position, you will need to have a good understanding of credit from a full lifecycle perspective, a broad and strategic perspective on risk management, a proven track record of using the results of your analysis to drive business decisions, and be fluent in both the key technical tools of credit risk decisioning and sound credit judgment.
The main responsibilities include:
Lead and support key credit risk strategies and initiatives for the BREF/ASL Risk Team responsible for ensuring credit originations of commercial real estate secured and asset secured lending teams conforms to risk appetite, credit policies and loan origination procedures.
Represent the BREF Risk Team and provide subject matter expertise on commercial underwriting and BREF/ASL strategies during reviews and audits.
Lead and support key risk monitoring activities for the BREF Risk Team associated with monthly credit originations, key risk programs in place today and future programs being implmented.
Lead and support various risk strategies to ensure effective controls and risk governance are in place for real estate secured and non-real estate secured credit originations.
Provide support to partners regarding SBL credit policy and application to new originations and renewals
Provide insight and guidance to BREF risk team members on analytics and reporting in a matrixed environment.
Excellent partnership and communication skills with BREF Risk Team Members as well as SBL Risk Team Members and various key stakeholders in SBL operations.
Provide limited credit transaction support when necessary.

8+ years of risk experience
5+ years of commercial underwriting experience
Knowledge and understanding of underwriting or evaluating commercial credit
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to present to multiple levels of management
Ability to identify and evaluate trends, isolate root cause, and provide swift/thorough resolution
Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills
Other Desired Qualifications
Strong background in commercial /small business loan products, practices, policies, and procedure
Experience using business knowledge and critical thinking skills to deliver upstream and downstream project impacts.
Knowledge and familiarity with project development and testing life-cycle
Knowledge and familiarity with systems that support commercial credit products
Experience developing partnerships and collaborating with other business and functional areas
Knowledge of and familiarity with understanding key factors impacting credit offerings, including credit risks and regulatory requirements
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
