If so, then you may be interested in the Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist position in the Employment Relations Division. As a Workers' Compensation Claims Specialist you will: Perform a variety of investigative, compliance and customer service functions in the administration of statutes and rules governing workers' compensation in Montana. Be the primary contact for injured workers or their attorneys, employers, insurers, insurers attorneys or their claims examiners and the general public. Serve as a subject matter expert on workers' compensation. Participate actively as a member of the Claims Assistance team working to promote and protect the wellbeing of Montana's workers, employers, and citizens. Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities: Knowledge of: Workers' compensation laws and rules. Occupational Disease Panel process. Skills in: Analyzing, prioritizing, and organizing to produce work timely with a high degree of accuracy. Using computers especially Microsoft Office Suite and various database systems. Offering exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Ability to: Build and maintain positive working relationships while displaying a team spirit. Take action solving problems while exhibiting judgement and a realistic understanding of issues. Provide presentations to various stakeholders on various aspects of workers' compensation. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: This position is in a general office environment. Occasional in-state or out-of-state travel may be required to provide training or attend training. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Relevant bachelor's degree in economics, business, medical or a related field. Minimum of three years of directly related qualifying experience. Prefer incumbent who possesses the Montana Claims Examiner Certification. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Upon date of hire, employees working at least half-time for more than six months are eligible for state paid premiums toward employee “core” medical, dental, and basic life insurance coverage. Employees earn 15 working days of annual leave, 12 days of sick leave and 10-11 paid holidays each year. Membership in a Retirement System - vesting criteria applies.
