We are looking for a full-time Cartography Database Administrator for our Yarmouth location. In this role you will be responsible for Maintenance, analysis and testing of Cartography database servers to support Cartography initiatives in a team-oriented environment. Other essential functions include:
Manage and tune Cartography SQL Servers and BuildFarm servers
Assist Software Engineers and Cartography Managers and Team Leads as needed in developing and maintaining software and cartography products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodologies
Provide basic computer support to Cartography team members as needed
Assist with importing / exporting of geographic data
Work with IT to ensure smooth running of database environment as well as perform periodic hardware and software upgrades
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of 3 years’ experience with Microsoft SQL server. Other requirements include:
Demonstrates proficiency in high level computer languages such as C#, ASP.NET and Microsoft Windows environments
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
Excellent time management and follow-up skills
Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another substantially similar field
Understanding of GIS concepts such as Projections, Datums, etc.
Experience with GIS tools such as ESRI, GlobalMapper or others
Ability to manipulate geographic data in various formats.
Experience and/or training in high level languages such as C and C++
