Herff Jones, A Varsity Achievement Brand, is looking to add an HR Specialist to join our HR Corporate Benefits team. As an HR Specialist (Leave of Absence) you will be on the HR frontline providing outstanding customer service to a diverse group of employees. You will serve as the primary team member interacting and assisting employees while you process and track all types of leaves (FMLA, Paid Leave, Unpaid Leave, Workers’ Compensation Leave) and accommodations. What we want you to accomplish: First 30 Days:
Become the Family and Medical Leave Act subject matter expert.
Become familiar with the Americans with Disabilities Act as it relates to employee accommodation.
Develop positive working relationships with HR staff at all locations.
Gain a strong working knowledge of all benefit plans and leave policies.
Become a part of the time and attendance implementation team.
First 90 Days:
Streamline processes associated with all leave policies.
Update and maintain written process documents for all leaves polices.
Develop and create procedures for new time and attendance system as it relates to leaves.
What you’ll be doing on a daily basis:
Serve as the primary team member to process and track all leaves (FMLA, paid, unpaid and workers’ compensation) through the entire life cycle from initial request to return to work. This includes working with employees, plant locations and supervisors to answer questions, educate and provide information related to all leaves.
Serve as the primary team member to process and track all ADA accommodation requests. This includes engaging in an interactive dialogue with the employee and coordinating requests with plant HR team members.
Work with HR and Payroll team members to ensure employees are paid accurately and benefits deductions are correctly reflected on each paycheck during a leave.
Coordinate the monthly benefit arrears process for employees on leave.
Participate in activities to develop and update leave presentations and employee material.
Develop and coordinate training and education for FMLA, ADA and Workers’ Compensation.
Continually review processes and procedures and offer suggestions for best practices in all areas of leave management and administration.
Assist Benefit team members with reporting, data requests and employee life cycle processing.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Previous experience coordinating leaves for a multi-location organization.
Prior success understanding complex benefit compliance regulations and implementing best practices to administer those programs.
Prior experience with Kronos leave management (a plus)
Utilize your Excel skills to analyze and manipulate data and assist with data requests.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the desire to deliver outstanding customer service to a diverse group of employees.
Proven ability to keep all employee information confidential.
Capability to become a high functioning member of the HR Benefits team working in a true team environment where everyone works together to accomplish tasks.
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field preferred
