Rights Manager

Job description          

Manage the permission and rights for Indiana University Press publications and as an agent for other University Press, including the sales of rights and sub-rights to international and U.S. companies. Manage permissions for numerous technical platforms including Copyright Clearance Center, partial content requests and IU Press managed content. Manage all signed book contracts and permission documents consulting with authors and editors. Internal reporting on all subsidiary rights sales revenue and recommend ways to expand reach and growth. Manage the Open Access Mellon Grant program. Supervise temporary employees and 1 staff position. Required Qualifications REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, publishing, or related field and three years publishing, publicity, sales, or marketing experience. One year working with rights. Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Strong computer skills including database management, spreadsheets, online searching, and the Microsoft Office Suite. Strong writing and editing skills. Analytical and detail-oriented, strong communication skills, ability to work under multiple deadlines and be able to establish clear priorities. Preferred Qualifications Working Conditions / Physical Demands This position requires intense concentration for extended periods within a busy office environment and involves constant use of computers and detailed reading. May require stooping, bending, and/or lifting boxes up to 40 pounds. Ability to travel as needed.
