Job description          

Under the supervision of the Executive Vice President and CFO, support the overall objectives of Joni and Friends' Accounting and Finance department as a member of the national team. Perform duties and responsibilities requiring special expertise including, but not limited to: 1. Management - Responsible for the accounting and finance operations of Joni and Friends and the Joni and Friends Foundation. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives. Maintains and enforces a well-documented systems of accounting policies and procedures. Supervises and manages procurement staff member and procedures. Supervise and maintain a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the organization's reported financial. Ensure the organization and its Foundation are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP and international financial reporting standards. 2. Transactions Ensure the accounts payable are paid in a timely manner. Ensure all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable. Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly Ensure the periodic bank reconciliations are completed in a timely manner Ensure the reconciliation process is complete and signed off by development, accounting and CFO Support month-end and year-end close process Maintain an orderly accounting filing system. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions. 3. Reporting Issue timely and complete financial statements Coordinate the preparation of the organizational audited financials and Form 990. Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of the organization's operations. Monitor key financial and operating metrics Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations 4. Compliance Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings 5. Other departmental projects that may be assigned by the Supervisor/Other Leadership 6. Other projects and assignments as necessary to support the overall strategic plan of Joni and Friends Qualifications: Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry Preferred 10+ years of accounting experience with progressive responsibility Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred in Accounting or Finance Required Certified Public Accountant designation Good interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to effectively organize and prioritize a wide range of daily tasks with varied deadlines are necessary Must be detail oriented, committed to accuracy, a team player and self-starter who is flexible and able to work independently Must have a strong sense of confidentiality Strong general computer skills are necessary along with a competent, working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Blackbaud products such as Financial Edge and the Internet Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable Prior to applying for any position with Joni and Friends, all applicants must review our Statement of Faith and Mission Statement (below) and be in agreement with both.
