The Assistant Director of Financial Aid/ Scholarships provides leadership and direction in the daily administration of scholarships at the university complying with all university, donor, NCAA, agency, federal and state regulations and policies. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with others across the campus to ensure the scholarship program supports the university’s overall recruitment and retention goals and contributes to the development of scholarships strategies to ensure the most effective use of scholarship funds. The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Instrumental in the development of an effective scholarships program to impact enrollment and student characteristics utilizing market research and data analysis;
Ensure effective promotion of the university’s scholarship program to students, parent, high school counselors in collaboration with other campus departments and academic colleges;
Produce appropriate publications;
Develop and maintain an informative, vibrant web page;
Ensure an effective selection process for scholarship recipients providing timely, relevant information to scholarship coordinators;
Develop an annual scholarship budget based on historical rates of retention, anticipated enrollment of new students as well as other relevant factors;
Manage the dissemination of scholarship offers and acceptance forms consistent with scholarship and university policies;
Produce annual scholarship application;
Maintain and use the scholarship software effectively;
Contribute to a positive university image through representation at both campus and external events;
Disseminate relevant information to direct reports, staff, and external campus offices/departments as appropriate;
Develop written procedures and maintain an annual scholarship calendar;
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor degree, with 3 years higher education, scholarship or related experience.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Master’s degree with scholarship and higher education experience. Specific experience with financial aid and scholarship management software systems such as Banner and Blackbaud Award Management is preferred as is strong project management history and supervision experience.
