The Missile Defense National Team – Engineering (NT-E) Integration, Verification and Test (IVT) Product Team (PT) Lead will direct the development of Missile Defense System (MDS) System Engineering integration and test planning efforts, test campaign design and development and system level performance assessments transitioning functional capabilities to the Warfighter.
Detailed efforts will address programmatic, functional and operational interface development, system implementation rationale, associated phased evaluations and assessments representing NT-E within MDS design, integration and test domains. Responsibilities include working cross functionally with associated Systems Engineering PTs and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Directorates to achieve an executable technical baseline.
Overall leadership of the PT through the development of deliverable products and tools will address planned or accelerated system functions, capabilities, behaviors, scenarios, environments, evaluation criteria and assessment objectives to support MDS planned and operationally deployed architectures. As a member of NT-E, this is a staff position reporting directly to the Program Director.
This position is contingent upon MDA (Missile Defense Agency) acceptance of the candidate.
This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills):
Must be a US Citizen
Must have active/current Secret US Security Clearance
12+ years of related engineering experience
Demonstrated project management and team leadership experience
Experience managing engineering team of 10 or larger
Experience providing oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
Experience with budget and schedule development
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
Desired Qualifications (Desired Skills):
Candidates should demonstrate experience providing leadership in a fluid, geographically distributed team environment.
General experience with BMDS elements (e.g., DE, BC, GM and AB) and weapon system development capabilities is highly desired.
System experience and versatility in several BMDS functional areas (i.e., BMDS related sensors, weapons, battle management and command, control, communications) are desirable.
Technical experience with BMDS Elements and their integration including: defining integration objectives, writing integrations plans and strategies, resolving technical systems integration issues and reporting integration results.
Top Secret clearance preferred
The position requires the ability to plan, organize, control, execute and provide oversight of NT-E IVT activities.
Ability to manage a technical team consisting of industry, FFRDC (Federally Funded Research and Development Canter), and SETA (System Engineering and Technical Assistance) personnel
Ability to manage engineering contributions to the following MDS design domains; Integration Planning, Test Objectives, Critical Engagement Conditions (CEC), Scenario Design and Certification, and MDS assessments.
Demonstrated interpersonal communications skills, ability to work with minimal supervision while multi-tasking.
Technical analytical background (engineering, physics, and/or applied mathematics) as well as experience in complex large scale System Engineering and Integration programs for DoD, NASA, etc.
Demonstrated experience managing a large number of tasks in a dynamic environment. Must manage employees performing engineering and technical activities while developing and executing integrated organizational plans that address technical strategies, goals, and objectives.
Ability to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and direct reports.
