Mail Services - -Sort and distribute letter mail in campus mail boxes or department tubs. -Load packages in lockers or write up packages for office pick-up. -Provide assistance and information to customers on phone or at pick-up window, as needed. -Break down incoming route items (process intercampus mail and mail that needs postage). -Meter outgoing mail and prepare for USPS pickup. -Forwarding service for former box holders. -Other duties as assigned. Central Receiving – two areas Office or Warehouse: Office duties -Data entry, filing, scanning documents for future retrieval, or uploading pictures and documents. Warehouse side- Loading/unloading of furniture, scientific equipment, or packages; -Sorting through and placing equipment is certain areas; -Warehouse cleaning. Custodial Contracts – -Inspects the day-to-day work of the custodial contractor. -Oversees plans, directs, trains, and corrects work of the contractor's supervisors and employees to assure the health and safety of the University staff and students. -Insures that the performance standards and task frequencies of the contract are met through diplomatic communication and direction of the contractor's supervisors and employees. -Coordinates the needs of the building users and the contractor when called upon. -Helps to resolve conflicting needs in a diplomatic manner. -Provides information to Custodial Contract Administrator regarding performance of custodial contractor -Insures that the custodial contractor adheres to OSHA regulations as well as other relevant safety requirements. -Maintain Rumba vacuums and empty garbage bins in specific areas. -Independent worker; self-starter. UAF Facilities Services Student Assistants work under general direction. Duties will vary depending on the department which is hiring. Supervisors from Campus Mail Center/Central Receiving or Custodial Contracts hire students on an as needed basis. Typical duties will require: basic computer skills, ability to work with others, ability to follow directions, regular attendance and timeliness, and to meet general expectations expressed by supervisor.
